Centre for Combating Tobacco (CCT) is the Sri Lankan tobacco observatory established at the Faculty of Medicine University of Colombo (UCFM) under the Article 5.3 of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC). The aim of the CCT is to monitor the tobacco industry activities related to the implementation of Article 5.3 in Sri Lanka and the region. CCT conducts investigative research on tobacco industry interference in the South Asia region (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka) and network for better strategies to counteract them. UCFM, is the second oldest medical school in South Asia and the leading medical school in the country. CCT liaise with all the local stakeholders in tobacco control including the main government authority, National Authority on Tobacco and Alcohol (NATA) and network with the major regional and global tobacco industry monitoring agencies. This project is powered by the International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union).
